Rubrik Acquires Predibase to Enhance the Adoption of AI Agents in Business Solutions

Rubrik, a data cybersecurity firm, announced its intention to acquire Predibase, a venture-backed startup specializing in the training and customization of open-source AI models for businesses. This acquisition is part of Rubrik’s strategy to enhance the adoption of enterprise AI agents, reflecting a broader trend among companies seeking to strengthen their AI capabilities. Although the specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed, reports suggest that the acquisition could be valued between $100 million and $500 million. However, Rubrik has chosen not to comment on the actual deal size.

Founded in 2021 by Devvret Rishi, Piero Molino, and Travis Addair, Predibase has successfully secured over $28 million in venture capital from various investors, including Felicis, Greylock, and Sancus Ventures. By integrating Predibase into its operations, Rubrik aims to enable users to accelerate the development of AI agents across platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, and Google Agentspace. According to Rubrik’s co-founder and CEO, Bipul Sinha, combining Predibase’s capabilities with Rubrik’s secure data platforms could revolutionize the AI landscape. He emphasized that this partnership would help organizations leverage trusted data for responsible and impactful AI implementations.

Rubrik is part of a growing trend of acquisitions aimed at enhancing technological offerings in the AI sector. Just recently, Salesforce acquired Informatica for $8 billion, and Snowflake and Collibra have also pursued similar strategic acquisitions to improve their AI agent functionalities. Founded in 2014, Rubrik has raised over $1.6 billion in venture capital from prominent firms like Khosla Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners before it went public in April 2024.
